COVID-19 and Small Business Assistance

Recently, the President signed the historic economic recovery bill to inject capital to help small businesses affected by coronavirus (COVID-19).

Two SBA emergency capital programs are available today and more will be coming soon:

1. Low interest, long term Economic Injury Disaster Loans for up to $2 million: the first payment is deferred for 12 months. The application has been simplified and can be completed 100% online through our improved web portal at www.sba.gov/disaster.

2. Economic Injury Disaster Loan Advance for up to $10,000: the form to apply is part of the economic injury disaster loan application.  If approved, these funds can be used for payroll and other operating expenses and will be forgiven.

Coming soon,  the SBA and Treasury Department will launch the new Paycheck Protection Program to help keep employees on payroll and small businesses operating.  Additional information about this program will be shared in the coming days.  Contact your local SBA District Office for more information.

What We Do

Cranes are used to fix Pittsburgh locksThe Pittsburgh District is a diversified, full-service Civil Works District, performing design, construction, operations, and maintenance services to five states within our region. We are responsible for flood damage reduction, recreation, environmental restoration, hydropower, storm damage reduction, regulatory, water supply, and emergency response.

 

The Pittsburgh District supports small businesses through:
 - Attending and supporting national and local small business trade shows and conferences
 - Counseling and educating small businesses via phone and face-to-face interaction
 - Providing informational handouts, pamphlets, and brochures about doing business with the Pittsburgh District
 - Interfacing with Small Business Development Centers, Procurement Technical Assistance Centers, Minority Business Outreach Centers, and Veterans Business Groups within our region. 

We are proactive in ensuring that these businesses receive maximum practicable opportunities to participate in and receive a fair share of contracts awarded.


We require the support of large prime contractors in awarding meaningful subcontracts to the small business community through including subcontracting plans as a requirement of the prime contract. 

The Pittsburgh District fully supports all federal programs established for the benefit of all small business groups, including:
