East Branch Reopening
U.S. Rep. Glenn “GT” Thompson (PA15); Col. Andrew Short, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District; and Autumn Rodden, resource manager for the East Branch Clarion River Lake, cut the ribbon marking the dam’s reopening in Wilcox, Pennsylvania, May 27, 2021. The ceremony celebrates the completion of the $250 million, East Branch Clarion River Dam Safety Modification project. The project began in 2014 and consisted of constructing a 2200 linear feet cutoff wall that penetrates up to 250 feet down through the middle of the earthen dam.
