• Hydraulic system failure at Ohio River lock halts river navigation

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Pittsburgh is alerting commercial navigation companies that operations at the New Cumberland Locks and Dam on the Ohio River, eight miles south of Wellsville, Ohio, halted after crews noticed a sheen inside the facility's main chamber.

    Come experience living history at Berlin Lake, where we are celebrating the Pittsburgh District’s Sesquicentennial. Berlin Lake will mark this anniversary with a Living History Event, Sept. 10 -11. As a part of the event, local stakeholders have been asked to come and speak about our local history and culture, as well as provide living reenactors demonstrating how the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has evolved.
  • East Branch Boaters: Launch Ramp Expected to Close

    The East Branch Dam boat launch ramp will close August 15 due to falling lake levels. The ramp will be closed to trailered vessels, however the lake will remain open to hand-carried boats such as kayaks and canoes.

  • Pittsburgh Corps welcomes new commander

    Colonel Bernard R. Lindstrom, Pittsburgh District Engineer, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will transfer leadership of the Pittsburgh District to Colonel John P. Lloyd during a traditional military Change of Command ceremony Friday, July 29, at 11 a.m. at the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum located at 4141 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213. Major General Donald E. (Ed) Jackson Jr., U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Deputy Commanding General for Civil and Emergency Operations, will preside over the ceremony.
  • Corps to sample and analyze groundwater at SLDA

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District will be collecting and subsequently analyzing groundwater samples from the Shallow Land Disposal Area site beginning Monday, June 27. The sampling should take approximately three days and three months for the completed analysis.
