Agencies, Elected Officials, Community Leaders come together to build a better Johnstown

 WHO:       The City of Johnstown and its federal partner, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, are convening a one-day workshop with regional local, state and federal agency representatives.  

WHAT:     The Army Corps of Engineers, the City of Johnstown and Vision 2025 are coming together with other local, state and federal resource agencies, elected officials, and community leaders to further the efforts to build a shared vision for improving the environment, economy and quality of life for residents and visitors to the Johnstown area. This interagency partnering meeting presents an opportunity for agencies to educate each other regarding the authorities and resources they can bring to the table, and how they can be leveraged to develop a plan and create near-term and long-term actions. 

WHEN:     Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

WHY:     The City of Johnstown and the surrounding region have much to offer residents, visitors and business interests. Increasing tourism, developing business opportunities, enhancing the environment and improving quality of life takes a shared vision and coordinated effort. This meeting will be the first step in bringing all of the organizations together to identify and discuss synergistic opportunities to accomplish each agencies’ goals and the City of Johnstown’s Vision 2025 for ecosystem restoration, economic development, and flood control plans in the Johnstown area. The organizations will consider and avoid duplication of any ongoing or planned actions.

 

BACKGROUND:  The City of Johnstown is initiating an effort to develop a coordinated, comprehensive vision for ecosystem restoration, economic development, and flood mitigation in the greater Johnstown area. Vision 2025 is a volunteer-based organization that has created a vision around bettering the Johnstown region. The vision will integrate and leverage existing and planned efforts in the greater Johnstown area.
