Why: Changes in the Corps’ regulations and the community needs have necessitated a revision to the master plan. The revision will classify the government lands around the lake based on environmental and socio-economic considerations, public input and an evaluation of past, present, and forecasted trends. Corps regulations require a periodic review of the plans to ensure they meet the current public and environmental needs. The master plan guides the use of government-owned and leased lands around the lake in a way that promotes safe and healthful use while maintaining environmental safeguards to ensure a quality resource for public use. The plan does not address water management operations, associated prime facilities, i.e. dam, spillway or shoreline management, as separate documents outline those operations.
