Final paving to begin Thursday on Pine Hollow Road

Published April 16, 2012

As part of the Pine Hollow Stream Removal Project, final permanent paving will begin Thursday on Pine Hollow Road. The paving will be completed by Mongiovi & Sons Excavating Inc., the project contractor. Road closures will be in effect from Thursday through Saturday.

Paving may be delayed due to inclement weather.

The purpose of the $4.9 million project is to redirect wet and dry weather flows from two open channel streams that flowed directly into the Broadway Combined Sewer Interceptor.

This project reduces combined sewer overflows which have been the primary cause of sewer system backups in hundreds of homes in Stowe Township and McKees Rocks Borough.  It also reduces the health hazard associated with basement back-ups for residents in these communities.
