Waterway groups gather for first LockFest!

The Pittsburgh District and its waterways partners are hosting the first ever water safety LockFest 2017. At the event, attendees will learn how to lock through navigation facilities and watch live locking demonstrations, discover water safety tips, talk to tow operators, brush up on boating regulations, and gain knowledge on how to navigate our rivers safely. Mahoning Creek Lake Seek Public Input on Master Plan Update

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Pittsburgh District, is revisiting the Master Plan (MP) for Mahoning Creek Lake and is seeking input on the public’s preferences for the future management of Mahoning Creek Lake. The MP update, which was last updated in 1976, will affect future use of natural resources and recreational activities at Mahoning Creek Lake for the next 25 years. [Read More]

Crooked Creek Lake Pavilion Reservation Change

Effective for the 2017 recreation season at Crooked Creek, the park office will no longer process pavilion reservation. Reservations can only be made through the National Recreation Reservation System in two ways, online at recreation.gov or by calling (877)444-6777. [Read More]

Corps to host East Branch Dam Safety Project Public Meeting, Nov. 9

Berlin Lake Celebrates 150TH Anniversary of Pittsburgh District with “ENGINEERS ON THE MAHONING”

East Branch Boaters: Launch Ramp Expected to Close

The East Branch Dam boat launch ramp will close August 15 due to falling lake levels. The ramp will be closed to trailered vessels, however the lake will remain open to hand-carried boats such as kayaks and canoes. [Read More]

Pittsburgh Corps welcomes new commander

Colonel Bernard R. Lindstrom, Pittsburgh District Engineer, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will transfer leadership of the Pittsburgh District to Colonel John P. Lloyd during a traditional military Change of Command ceremony Friday, July 29, at 11 a.m. at the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum located at 4141 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
