Berlin Lake Celebrates 150TH Anniversary of Pittsburgh District with “ENGINEERS ON THE MAHONING”

Come experience living history at Berlin Lake, where we are celebrating the Pittsburgh District’s Sesquicentennial. Berlin Lake will mark this anniversary with a Living History Event, Sept. 10 -11. As a part of the event, local stakeholders have been asked to come and speak about our local history and culture, as well as provide living reenactors demonstrating how the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has evolved. Pittsburgh Corps welcomes new commander

Colonel Bernard R. Lindstrom, Pittsburgh District Engineer, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will transfer leadership of the Pittsburgh District to Colonel John P. Lloyd during a traditional military Change of Command ceremony Friday, July 29, at 11 a.m. at the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum located at 4141 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213. Major General Donald E. (Ed) Jackson Jr., U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Deputy Commanding General for Civil and Emergency Operations, will preside over the ceremony. [Read More]

Mahoning Creek Lake Hosts 75th Anniversary

MAHONING LAKE –In 1941, 75 years ago, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers completed Mahoning Dam and placed it into operation. Since, that time Mahoning Dam has been providing flood protection for the lower Allegheny River Valley and the upper Ohio River. In commemoration of this major accomplishment, Mahoning Creek Lake will hold a 75th Anniversary celebration from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 18. [Read More]
