NOTES

This forecast represents current models of reservoir project pool elevations and releases for the next three days.  In general, it assumes no significant rainfall during the forecast period.  Final decisions on all operations (changes in project release) are made on the day of the operation, and may be changed without notice.

On the top panel, under "Pool Elevations" the following definitions apply:

  • Minumum Pool - the minimum pool elevation for the project.
  • Winter Max Pool - the maximum Winter Pool elevation for the project.
  • Summer Max Pool - the maximum Summer Pool elevation for the project.
  • Full Pool - the elevation of the pool at maximum flood control storage.

The Winter and Summer pool levels are part of the overall maximum conservation pool for each lake, which is the maximum level maintained at each lake throughout the year.  Conservation storage is the water in each lake below the Max Conservation Pool and above Minimum Pool.   Conservation storage is for a variety of purposes, varying from lake to lake, and can include purposes such as water quality control, fish and wildlife, navigation, water supply, recreation, etc.  Some lakes have no allocated conservation storage.  Max Conservation Pools are shown on the Reservoir Plots below.

"Flood Storage Capacity Used" is the amount of the lake's floodwater storage which is already filled.  The lake volume between Max Conservation Pool and Full Pool is the amount of "empty space" that is supposed to be kept available for storing floodwater.
