East Branch Promotes Water Safety for Anglers
Recently, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District employees at East Branch Lake devised a new information campaign aimed at anglers. The campaign promotes water safety to anglers using an item that they already use – fishing lures. The spoon targets the “big ones” in the lake and is designed to provide an added layer of protection for anglers, even if on a subliminal level. Each time the angler reaches to use the East Branch Lake spoon, the message imprinted on it will remind them to don a life jacket and be safe out there. According to East Branch Lake staff, the lake is a productive fishery due to its healthy aquatic and terrestrial habitat factors.
