• Corps, Pirates to host PNC Park Water Safety Night 2023

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District, in partnership with the Pittsburgh Pirates, will host Water Safety Night at PNC Park, June 2. The corps and its partners are joining together to promote safe practices on our waterways as the summer recreation season begins.
  • Allegheny, Monongahela locks to open on some weekends, holidays

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District is notifying recreational boaters that the upper Allegheny River and the upper Monongahela River locks will be open during specific dates and times this summer.
  • Union City Dam Road Closure

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District will temporarily close Middleton Road at Union City Dam to perform various maintenance work during May. The road is the entrance to the dam at 1438 Middleton Road, Waterford, Pennsylvania.
  • Pittsburgh District and city of Clarksburg partner for $3 million project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District entered a partnership agreement with the city of Clarksburg, West Virginia, to extend the city’s sanitary-sewer services to the Arlington, Dawmont, Glen Falls and Gore communities as part of a $3 million Section 219 Environmental Infrastructure project, April 26.
  • Corps increases operational activity at Shallow Land Disposal Area

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Pittsburgh District announces an increase in operational activity at the Shallow Land Disposal Area (SLDA) in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. During the next few months, residents near the SLDA site will see increased site workers, equipment, signage and maintenance. In addition, site workers will perform infrastructure maintenance such as repairing fencing and drainage ways, clearing trees and brush from between the fences, and removing aged solar panels.
  • Woodcock Creek Lake campgrounds closed for 2023 season

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District is announcing that the Woodcock Lake Park Campground at Woodcock Creek Lake will be closed for the 2023 recreation season.
  • Pittsburgh District to partner with Allegheny County Sanitary Authority for $4.3 million project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District will sign a partnership agreement with the Allegheny County Sanitary Authority (ALCOSAN) to construct a grit chamber along Spring Garden as part of a $4.3 million environmental infrastructure project in Pittsburgh, Jan. 11.
  • Water Resources Development Act of 2022 authorizes Pittsburgh District additional projects for civil works and studies to benefit water infrastructure

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District received new and increased authorizations to support water infrastructure and civil works projects within its 26,000 square-mile region with the approval of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2022, signed into law by President Joe Biden.
  • Corps to host third annual Eagle Fest at Shenango River Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District, in partnership with the Shenango River Watchers, will host the third annual Eagle Fest at Shenango River Lake, Jan. 7. Community members are invited to attend at the Chestnut Run Swim Beach at 500 Saranac Drive (SRSR 846), Transfer, PA 16150. The event will start at 9 a.m. with a presentation by the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
  • Army Corps to collect Christmas trees at Tionesta Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District will begin accepting live evergreen Christmas trees at Tionesta Lake, which will be used for aquatic habitat-improvement projects, beginning Dec. 27.
