PITTSBURGH – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District is informing the public that several sites will be closed during the upcoming Fourth of July weekend due to recent heavy rains in the Mahoning River Valley.

The following sites will be closed during the holiday:

Golden Run Day use Area and Boat Launch

                        Clark Rec Area Boat Launch

“Our primary goal is ensuring the safety of all our visitors,” said Col. Andrew Short, commander, Pittsburgh District. “We, at the district, understand the role our recreation sites play in the community. The decision to keep certain areas closed was not made lightly or was it without considering all of the possibilities and impacts.”

Short stated that the district will continue to monitor the conditions at our recreations and will reopens sites as soon as the areas can be safety used.
