The weather conditions were cold and windy, but that didn’t stop the more than 100 runners and walkers from participating in the Bunny Run 5K Run-Walk event at Tionesta Lake, April 4.

The first-time event began at the Tionesta Community Park adjacent to the Tionesta swim beach, and crossed through both the Tionesta Recreation Area and Outflow Campgrounds.

Tionesta’s own Rodney Daum, supervisory natural resource management specialist, won the overall event for the walkers. This was Daum’s 120th win in these types of races. Additionally, Ranger Jason Quinn, a natural resource specialist, along with his family, participated in the run event. Quinn placed fourth in his age category, while his son Aiden placed second in his age category and eighth overall for the race.

The run was sponsored by the West Forest Elementary and Junior-Senior High Schools.

Runners and walkers commented that this was one of the most scenic race routes they have encountered during their running experiences. Since this race was extremely successful, the West Forest schools plan to make it an annual event at Tionesta Lake.
