    It’s all about the water levels

    April showers might have brought May flowers, but this summer’s warm weather brought a different kind of bloom to reservoirs. The Pittsburgh District environmental team focused its efforts to identify harmful algae blooms and conducted testing throughout the Mahoning River Watershed.

    Operation Dark Frost is a go. As the sun went down Oct. 5, Pittsburgh District’s Crooked Creek Lake hosted an emergency management training exercise. “Dark Frost” was the first event of its kind held in western Pennsylvania with the purpose of improving emergency response skills.
  • Corps Awards Contract for Sediment Removal in Johnstown, PA

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District has awarded a $1.2- million contract for the removal of accumulated sediments and vegetation along the Stonycreek River located in Cambria County, Pennsylvania.
