The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District is revising both the Youghiogheny River Lake Master Plan (MP) and Shoreline Management Plan (SMP). The Master Plan guides the use of government-owned and leased lands around the lake. The Shoreline Management Plan aims to protect and manage the shoreline in a way that promotes safe and healthful use, while maintaining environmental safeguards to ensure a quality resource for use by the public.
Update (as of July 14, 2020): For the SMP, we have completed our scoping phase and are working to prepare a draft updated SMP that considers the comments we collected during the scoping phase. For the MP, the scoping phase is currently on-going and will end Friday August 7, 2020. Following the scoping phase for the MP, we will work to prepare a draft for an updated MP and create a combined Environmental Assessment (EA) for the MP and SMP. At that time we will release both the draft SMP and draft MP as well as the combined EA out for public review.
How can you use this page? We invite you to review the documents posted to this website to see what the current MP and SMP include as well as other relevant information. To learn more about the MP scoping phase and submit comments for consideration as the MP is revised, please see below for information released at the virtual public meeting held on July 8, 2020. You're invited to submit a comment using the public comment tool included on this page by August 7, 2020.
